Profile
Wu Chun is known for the only Chinese pianist awarded three doctoral degree and 16 top prizes in various international piano competitions.
He obtained his doctorate in concert pianist at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. In addition, he boasts two more doctoral degrees in performing arts, and musical arts, both granted by The Odessa National A. V. Nezhdanova Academy of Music.
Also, he is recognized as a Steinway artist, a contracted artist for Kuke Music, the Artist-in-Residence of Tsinghua University, and the emeritus professor in the piano department of The Odessa National A. V. Nezhdanova Academy of Music. Currently, he holds a teaching post at Centural Conservatory of Music.
He was inspired by Professor Wan Chen, head of the piano department of Wuhan Conservatory of Music. In 1998 he entered the Piano Department of the Odessa State Music Academy under the supervision of Professor Galyna Popova, and in 2004 he entered the Master Class for Performers at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Media in Hannover, Germany, under the supervision of Professor Vladimir Krainev. He received his doctorate in piano performance from the Odessa State Academy of Music, his doctorate in musical arts, and his doctorate in performance from the Hannover Academy of Music, Theatre and Media.
Since 1999, he has been awarded sixteen international prizes, including the Gold Medal of the Prokofiev International Piano Competition, the First Prize of the Lysenko International Piano Competition, the Gold Medal of the Gillespie International Piano Competition, the Third Prize of the Horowitz International Piano Competition, the Second Prize of the Krainev International Piano Competition, etc. In 2003, at the age of 21, he was invited to be a member of the jury of the S.Richter International Piano Competition.
He has given solo, concerto, repertoire and chamber music concerts in many countries such as Russia, USA, UK, France, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain, Italy, Japan and many cities in China, with Daniel Barenboim, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Mykola Gajura, Vladimir Silenko, Hobart Earle, Carlo·Maria·Giulini, Eiji Oue, Xiaoying Zheng, En Shao, Yi Jiangjin, Hua Tanli, Cao Lixin and other Chinese and foreign conductors, and has worked with the Russian National Symphony Orchestra, the Ukrainian National Symphony Orchestra, the Milan Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hannover Symphony Orchestra, the Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Youth Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra and many others.
He dedicated to promoting Chinese piano works and have recorded and performed several new works composed by Yuankai Bao, En Shao and others. Kook Music invited him to make the first recording and publish the first release of Shaoen Lu's "Piano Grand Fugue".
