Mauro Colombis is an accomplished pianist and composer. He started learning the piano in Italy
and completed his musical studies obtaining two masters in classical piano performance (P.I.
Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatorium, Russia and B. Marcello Venice Conservatorium, Italy) and a
Bachelor in Drama, Arts & Music Studies (University of Bologna).
As one of the most renowned silent film pianists in the world, Mauro has dedicated his career to
this unique art form, skillfully blending improvisation and composition. He performs regularly at
the world’s premier silent film festival “ The Pordenone Silent Film Festival”, held in Italy, and leads
Masterclasses in silent film improvisation. He has also performed at other film festivals throughout
Australia, China and Thailand. His piano score features in the digital restoration of the first world
feature film ever made, “ The Story of the Kelly Gang ”.
Mauro is a versatile musician who regularly performs as a soloist and in collaboration with other
artists to create exceptional and unique concert experiences combining different musical styles
and genres.
Mauro is also a passionate teacher, dedicated to helping students achieve their highest potential
while fostering a lifelong love for music and ultimately enabling them to enjoy life through music.
With a tailored approach to each individual, Mauro combines accurate technical training along
with a focus on musical expression and artistry.
