Mark Ingwersen is an extremely highly regarded performer and string educator with over 30 years’ experience both internationally and within Australia.
His studies as a violinist began in Canberra where he completed his undergraduate degree at the Canberra School of Music, ANU before moving to London as a post graduate at the Guildhall school of music. On returning to Australia Mark spent the next 25 years touring the great concert halls of Europe, North America and Asia as a full time member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra. As a member of the ACO he also recorded over 20 CDs including several ARIA award winning albums.
Mark has performed globally on some of the most prestigious stages and music festivals including Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, Musikverein, Royal Festival Hall, Albert Hall, Disney Hall, Lincoln Centre, and Barbican. He has collaborated with instructors and other specialists to promote commonalities, distinctions and connections in music education.
In addition to this he was a founding mentor of the ACO’s flagship education program for graduate and post graduate students - The Emerging Artist Program.
Mark has also collaborated with many leading Australian arts companies such as Sydney Dance Company, Bell Shakespeare, Gondwana voices, Established and maintained standards of student behavior to promote orderly and productive practice, group rehearsals and violin performances. He has adjudicated eisteddfodds and competitions, given masterclasses nationally and internationally, and been a panellist on auditions.
Furthermore, Mark has recently embarked on a new venture at Kambala and Kincoppal, bringing his wealth of experience to revitalize their string program. He aims to enhance the musical education landscape at these institutions through elevating the music programs and providing students with a comprehensive and inspiring musical journey under his guidance.
As an educator Mark has taught at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and been artist in residence at the Guildhall School of Music, London in collaboration with the ACO. Mark has taught students of all levels, many of whom have gone on to have successful professional careers.
