SYDNEY SCHOOL OF MUSIC AND FINE ARTS

Learn from Sydney's leading musicians. In the heart of the CBD.

We firmly believe in the profound significance of music and the arts in human life. We strive to create a supportive environment where students of all ages can transform their musical experiences into a lifelong passion.

What makes us different?

Most students don't quit because they lack talent. They quit because they're bored. Here's how we keep that from happening.

Violin Lessons

Taught by Professionals

Lessons are led by practicing performers and educators drawn from the Sydney Symphony and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Your child learns the instrument from someone who plays it for a living at every level, not just the advanced ones.

Built Around Performance

Every term runs on a structured 10-week cycle that ends on stage, not on paper. Recitals, showcases and ensemble work are how we measure progress, from a first-year beginner to aspiring musicians.

Personalised Pathways

Every student follows a learning plan matched to their age, level and goals, and is reviewed twice a year by their Head of Department. Teachers across all seniority follow the same core pedagogy, so progress stays consistent and accountable.

May Spotlight: Angelo Saros (Cello)

CleanShot 2026-06-05 at 21.25.30_2x.png
From beginner to Carnegie Hall in 2 years

We are so proud of our cello student, Angelo Saros who, at only six-years-old, has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York through the Special Venue Music Awards. Previously Angelo also achieved Silver at our Sydney International Music and Fine Arts Competition and the Tchaikovsky Music Competition.

Angelo began learning cello with our teacher Mr Sebastian Mansell as a beginner. In just two years, he has made outstanding progress, developing strong technique, musical discipline, and real confidence as a young performer.

Angelo’s story shows what focused teaching can do. With the right teacher, consistent practice, and real performance opportunities, young students can grow far beyond what they first imagined.

Angelo featured on the Daily Telegraph (and Northshore Times and more!)

June Spotlight: Beatrice Colombis (Violin)

Now internationally recognised

We are honoured to celebrate Beatrice Colombis, who recently made it to the semi-finals of the prestigious 2026 Michael Hill International Violin Competition

Beatrice studied with our Head of Early Learning, Ms Esmeralda Tintner and has also performed at our events including "Magic of Violin for Kids". Previously she has won the Kendall National Violin Competition and was a finalist in the Tokyo Classic Violin Competition.

Her journey reflects what we hope to build for every student: strong foundations, inspiring mentors, regular performance opportunities, and the confidence to share music beyond the lesson room. Book a trial lesson today to begin your journey!
